1. Drivers

Age limits: 21 to 69 years. 70- 72 years normally accepted but MUST be checked with DMC first.

Driver must have held a valid license for more than two years if under 25 and for no less than 12 months if over 25 years old.

Unacceptable Occupations: Market traders, second hand clothes dealers, scrap merchants, vehicle dismantlers or breakers, professional gamblers, professional sportspeople, entertainment professions inc parttime, armed forces of non UK countries, students and unemployed persons.

Convictions: DMC cannot hire to any person who has been convicted of a major conviction during the past five years or has any such prosecution pending.

Accidents: DMC cannot hire to any person who has been involved in 2 or more accidents in the proceeding three years.

Previous Insurance History: DMC cannot hire to any persons who have had a policy cancelled or a proposal declined or a renewal refused by an insurer.

Non UK Licence holders: DMC will accept foreign licence holders AS LONG AS such persons are aged over 25 years and have held a full licence for a minimum of 2 years. An additional £400 excess will be imposed.

Convictions:


Drivers 21-22 must be free from endorsement


Drivers 23-24 are acceptable only if they do not disclose more than one minor conviction within the last 5 years.


Drivers 25-69 are acceptable if in the last 5 years they have minor convictions which total 9 points or less.



Additional £400 excess applies if 7-9 penalty points.



Details of additional drivers required.

Production of valid standard driver's license required from all drivers at start of hire.

Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (eg: parking tickets) which are incurred during the period of hire.

Maximum of 3 drivers per rental. Please Note: More than one driver is charged at £5.00 per day for each extra driver.


Each driver must provide BOTH parts of their driving licence - we need to see the original of both the paper and card licences.
In addition, we need a utility bill less than one month old showing the hirers current address. The £500 Security Deposit MUST be paid prior to collection. THESE ITEMS ARE ESSENTIAL.
Without them, we will not be able to release the van and no refund will be made.


2. Insurance

Standard excess.
The quoted rate includes a standard excess of GB£750. In the event of a road accident resulting in any damage to either the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first GB£750. This can be reduced to £250 on payment of a £16.00 per day waiver.The waiver will be deducted from the Security Deposit when you return the camper. The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windscreen or tyre damage. If the vehicle is stolen and the keys cannot be found by the hirer, then the hirer is responsible for the replacement cost of the vehicle. The hirer agrees that he will remove the keys when he vacates the vehicle and ensure the vehicle is left securely.

The insurance covers the vehicle to carry a maximum of four people. If there will be more than four people - please check with us before booking.


3. Security Deposit

There is a refundable GB£500.00 Security Deposit payable by cash, Visa, Mastercard, Switch or PayPal. This must be received by DMC in cleared funds prior to collection of the vehicle. This payment is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time, in the same condition as it was let out to you, the interior clean including all cooking appliances and the tank full of fuel.If the vehicle has not be refilled fully with fuel - a £10.00 service charge will be made in addition to the cost of the fuel. If there is any damage, the cost of repairing any such damage as well as any consequential loss to DMC will be deducted from the deposit. Consequential loss will include but not be limited to loss of rental income if DMC need to cancel any bookings because of damage to the vehicle. If the costs exceed the amount held as a deposit, this amount will be payable to DMC on receipt of invoicing from DMC.

The security deposit will be used to fund any loss or damage what so ever to equipment, fixtures and fittings or negligent damage to the vehicle.

If you are not leaving your car with us, please bring a passport for each member of your party. We will retain this until the camper is returned.

4. Hire rates quoted include:

VAT (17.5%)
500 miles and then 20p per additional mile (eg 100 miles in excess of the first free 500 miles would result in a charge of £20.00)
UK standard vehicle insurance*
UK Standard equipment & breakdown
*Insurance loading. In some cases, drivemycamper.com will incur additional charges if the driver to be insured has a traffic conviction, is using a non-UK driving license or is in an occupation which is deemed high risk. Any additional charges will be passed on to the customers.

6. No pets are allowed in the campers as we try and keep the interiors in the best possible condition.

7. Extras

The charges set out below are for guide purposes only.
More than one driver: (UK only)
£5.00 per person per day, clean driving licence.
Points on license : £2.50 - £10.00 per day per three points (depending on number & type of points Eg: SP30 code would cost £2.50 extra per day.)
Each previous accident: £10.00 per accident per day for each driver. (Please note that if points are shown on a drivers license, they will be counted for up to 9 years.
Non UK driver's license holder: £5.00 per day
Under 25 (Minimum age 21 with 2 years full driving licence) £10.00 per day.

8. Business hours

Monday to Friday: Please see the collection time on your booking confirmation. It is ESSENTIAL that you arrive promptly for your collection time. Late collections are charged at £10 per 30 minutes, to cover additional staff costs.
Saturdays and Sundays: closed for collections although camper hire returns can still be made subject to prior arrangement.
Public holidays: closed, unless by prior arrangement

9. One way rentals

Not permitted. If the camper is not returned to the collection point FOR ANY REASON a collection charge of £1.00 per mile will be made from the collection point to the vehicle and back to the collection point. If the camper becomes undrivable - AA Relay will transport the vehicle back to the collection point but the camper must be accompanied by the hirer. Otherwise the mileage charge will apply.

10. Payment

Availability is on a request and confirm basis at the time of reservation. A reservation is only binding after it has been confirmed by drivemycamper.com and full payment has been received.
Full payment is due 6 weeks before collection. If full payment has not been made by this time, DMC reserves the right to cancel the booking and has no obligation to make any refund of booking deposit.
Payment is by PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, Switch.
Optional extras such as Satilite Navigation, Awning can be booked. However these are subject to availability and if not available any booking fee for these items will be refunded.

11. Cancellation Charges

More than 6 weeks before: 25% of total hire charge
6 weeks - 4 weeks: 50% of total hire charge
4 weeks - No Show: 100% of total hire charge. Please note that if you have made a booking, you are deemed to have read these Terms and agreed that you qualify to hire a vehicle. If you do not qualify, our above cancellation terms apply. If in doubt, please call us.

12. Collection & Return

Collection: Please see your booking confirmation for details of collection times. If you are going to be in excess of 30 minutes late - it is important that you call our offices so that we can make sure we have staff available to assist with your vehicle collection. Late collections are charged at £10 per 30 minutes to help cover additional staff costs. If we do not recieve a call - we reserve the right to change the collection day. Please allow 1 hour for the hand-over at our offices - to complete the documentation and demonstrate your vehicle to you.
Return: The vehicle must be returned between 09:00 and 12:00 midday on the day of return. Vehicles must be returned clean and in the same condition as they leave the depot, otherwise a charge will be made
Late return: If you will be late returning, drivemycamper.com must be advised immediately. Failure to advise may result in prosecution for driving whilst uninsured. An additional charge of £50 per hour will be payable for all late returns. You can leave your vehicle at the premises of DMC.

12a Parking. You are welcome to leave your car at our premises. However you agree that DMC will accept no responsibility or liability if the vehicle is stolen or damaged.

13. You will pay DMC:

All rental charges
The security deposit
The nominated valeting fee of up to £80 if the camper is not returned with the interior in a clean condition;
The nominated cancellation fee in the event of cancellation of this agreement prior to the hire
The cost of any damage to the camper or the property of any third party, subject to the insurance cover.
The first 500 miles are included in the rental price. Any excess miles are charged at 20p per mile.
The Collision Damage Waiver fee, if applicable
All Government fees and duties etc
All parking fines, other fines or penalties, and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the camper, and associated administration costs incurred in relation to the vehicle during the rental period.
Any other fees or charges payable by me pursuant to this Agreement. This includes any costs incurred by DMC as a result of any breach by me of the terms of this Agreement
The daily rental rate for the period the Vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage); the cost to recover a Vehicle which has become bogged.

14 Total charges as set out therein are not final.

You will pay any shortfall in charges to DMC and you will receive a refund for any overcharge acknowledged by DMC.

15 When the Customer comprises of more than one person, each person is liable jointly and severally for all obligations of the customer pursuant to this Agreement.

16 DMC will accept payment by credit cards.

When payment is paid by credit card, you agree that;
a) DMC is irrevocably authorised to complete any documentation and to take any other action to recover from your credit card issuer all amounts due by you pursuant to this Agreement, including but not limited to, any amounts due in respect to damage to the Vehicle or to property of a third party and all other additional charges as they are incurred (including all parking and traffic infringement penalties, road toll fines, London congestion charges, and associated administration costs);
b) You will not dispute your liability to DMC for any amount due under this agreement and you shall indemnify and keep indemnified DMC against any loss incurred (including legal costs) by reason of notifying your credit card issuer of such dispute.
c) DMC may process the credit card voucher; in the event that DMC elects to accept payment of the Security Deposit by holding an open security payment which will be cancelled at the completion of the Rental Period, you agree that DMC is entitled to recover payment from your credit card issuer pursuant to paragraph (a) in respect of any amounts due which were not known at the time of cancelling the open security payment.
d) You acknowledge that all transactions under this agreement are conducted in Pounds Sterling.

17 You warrant that all information supplied by you to DMC in connection with this agreement is true and accurate.

18 You are aware that;

a) The Vehicle is insured for damage to the Vehicle and the property of a third party;
b) You will have to pay an excess for any damage . The insurance excess is £750.00
c) You will not have any insurance cover and you will be responsible for the total cost of any damage if you breach any of the terms of this agreement

19 Before taking delivery of the Vehicle, you agree to pay the Security Deposit.

b) You irrevocably authorise DMC to deduct from the Security Deposit any amounts due to DMC arising out of this Agreement.
c) The security deposit will be refunded by cheque or by PayPal within 7 working days of the vehicle being returned to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior with a full fuel tank. We reserve the right to retain a £80.00 soiling fee if the camper is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.

20 a) All Vehicles may only be driven on sealed / bitumen roads.
b) You acknowledge that DMC reserves the right at any time, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions or any other reasonable cause.

21 You agree that during the rental period, you will not allow the Vehicle to be;

a) driven otherwise than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner;
b) used in a manner which could cause damage - including driving while any warning light is operational.
c) driven in a prohibited area or in an area other than the areas indicated by me to DMC.
d) driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law;
e) Left with the ignition key in the vehicle while it is unoccupied
f) Left unoccupied without the CD faceplate removed, steering wheel security lock applied and the DVD screen covered.
g) Driven by persons:
i) Under the age of 25 years unless with written authorisation from DMC; or
ii) Who is not authorised by law to drive the Vehicle. Particulars of a proposed licensed driver of the Vehicle are set out under the heading 'Driver Details' in the Motor Rental Agreement.
h) Damaged by:
i) Submersion in water
ii) Contact with Salt Water
i) used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest
j) used to tow any vehicle or trailer.
k) used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward
l) used to carry more persons than is permitted by any relevant authority or detailed in the Vehicle manual or on the Vehicle or specified in this agreement
m) used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material
n) otherwise used in breach of my obligations under this Agreement.

22 You shall not make any alterations or additions to the Vehicle without the prior written consent of DMC.

23 You will not allow any animals to be carried in the rental. You acknowledge that any damage repair costs or extra valeting costs caused because of, or by a pet travelling in the vehicle must be paid for in full by yourself.

24 DMC authorises the use of these vehicles up to the stated number of passengers. Each person to use the safety restraints provided at all times whilst vehicle is in motion.
VW Camper vans carry 4 people (inc. driver)

25 DMC ensure that each vehicle is serviced before each rental. However these are vintage vehicles and as such can malfunction unexpectedly. You agree that no refunds will be made in these circumstances other than a refund for the unused full days of rental once vehicle has been returned to the collection point.
The vehicles are fully covered by either RAC or AA breakdown service who wil do their best to repair the vehicle at the roadside or be taking the vehicle to the nearest repairer.
You shall take all reasonable steps to properly maintain the Vehicle, including oil checks every day and batteries.
You acknowledge that DMC will reimburse you for expenditure reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the drive train and engine of the Vehicle ( not including the water system, refrigerator, heating, audio and DVD equipment ) Provided That:
You produce relevant receipts:; and
You have received the prior written consent of DMC;
The damage is not due to your fault or your breach of this Agreement.

26 Subject to the terms of this agreement, you will pay for the cost of repairing or replacing tyres damaged during the Rental Period PROVIDED THAT DMC will reimburse you for expenditure reasonably incurred if;
You produce relevant receipts;
The tyre is defective and is returned by me to DMC for inspection; and
The manufacturer accepts liability under his warranty,
You will be liable for any costs associated with the incorrect use of fuel ( fuel being diesel or petrol )

27 In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, You will:
Notify DMC within 24 hrs of the happening of the event
Obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses and report the event to the nearest police station;
Complete a European accident report form.
Not make any admission of liability to other parties, settlement offer or other like offer;

28 You will assist DMC in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence.
You acknowledge that the excess or other amount due by you in respect of any damage arising from an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the completion of the rental period.
You will pay for any costs relating to the delivery of a change over vehicle as a result of an accident regardless of which party is at fault.

29 You acknowledge that DMC may terminate this Agreement and repossess the Vehicle at any time, without notification to you, and that you will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the Vehicle, including towing charges if;
a) You are in breach of any term of this Agreement;
b) You have obtained the Vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation;
c) The Vehicle appears to be abandoned
d) The Vehicle is not returned on the agreed return date or DMC reasonably believes that the Vehicle will not be returned on the agreed return date;
e) DMC considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the Vehicle is endangered. You understand that in the event of such termination or repossession, you have no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or the Security Deposit.

30 DMC reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute a comparable or superior Vehicle for the Vehicle. In that event, you shall not be liable for any increased rental or other charges save for any addition running costs pertaining to the substitute vehicle. Such substitution shall not entitle you to any refund and does not constitute a breach of this Agreement. In the event of breakdown or the booked vehicle becoming unavailable and if a substitute vehicle is not available then DMC will refund the cost of the hire on a daily pro rata basis. You agree that you indemnify DMC against any consequential loss incurred by you, if for some reason DMC has to cancel my booking or cannot provide a substitute vehicle.

31 Subject to its obligation to deliver the Vehicle or an appropriate substitute vehicle, you release DMC, its employees and agents, from any liability to you (regardless of who is at fault) for any loss or damage incurred by you by reason of this Agreement, including but not limited to:
Any loss or damage caused by breakdown, mechanical defect, accident or the Vehicle being unsuitable for my purpose;
Any loss or damage to any property left in or on the Vehicle, in any service vehicle or on any DMC premises or recovered or handled by DMC.
Subject to any insurance arrangements agreed with DMC, you hereby indemnify and shall keep indemnified DMC, its employees and agents against any claims, demands and expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by them or any of them by reason of your use and/or possession of the Vehicle.

32 You acknowledge that DMC retains title to the Vehicle and that you possess the goods as a mere bailee only. You do not have any right to pledge DMC’s credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so. You shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.

33 Any changes to this agreement must be in writing and must be signed on behalf of DMC and by you.

34 This agreement shall be governed by the law of Great Britain in which this agreement was signed.

35 This Agreement , constitutes the entire agreement of the parties and there are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement. DMC reserves the right to add or amend any rental charges without prior notice.



36 Definitions of Terms and Conditions

'You', 'I','me' and 'my' refers jointly and severally to the person or persons who are the customers.' This Agreement' means the Rental Agreement, the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement and these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and any other drivemycamper.com literature, the provisions of these Terms and Conditions apply

'Customer'
means the person or persons nominated as the hirer under the heading 'Hire Details' on the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement and any person whose credit card is presented in payment of the customer's charges.

'Living Equipment'
Includes but is not limited to DVD player, CD player, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, towels.

'Rental Period'
Means the hire period referred to under the heading 'Booking Details' on the Rental Agreement or any agreed variation thereof and any additional period during which the vehicle is in the customer's possession or control

'Vehicle'
Means the vehicle described under the heading 'Vehicle Details' on the Rental Agreement and includes tyres, tools, accessories, the living equipment and any other special equipment, documents related to the Vehicle and any replacement or substitute Vehicle which may be provided at the discretion of DMC.

'Security Deposit'
Means the Vehicle security deposit detailed under the heading 'Vehicle Security Deposit' in the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement.
